Title :The Concrete Tomb Filename :con_tomb.bsp Author :+Cadaver+ (a.k.a. Mike Rosser) E-mail :cadaverUK@hotmail.com OR mike@mrosser.freeserve.co.uk ======================================================================= Background :The Omega Base in the Nevada desert. An isolated outpost in which you, a scientist, work on biological weapons. Disaster strikes when a pipe breaks in the basement, releasing microscopic, yet deadly, viruses into the air. RED ALERT! - you notify the government of the accident, only for them to seal you and your colleagues in the complex - to die. Then, a radio message comes through - the Omega authorities have permitted a helicopter to rescue ONE scientist. "Let's be reasonable about this," one scientist says, seeing the evil glint in your eyes. "I'M gonna be the one getting outta here," you snarl, "and I'll kill the lot of you if I have to...." If that's not an excuse to kill people brutally, I don't know what is. Description :This is my first, and last, Half-Life level. I'm s sick of WC's crashes on my crappy computer, so I'm packing it in (unless someone wants to buy me a brand spanking new PC ;) No, seriously.) It's a military/research base built on 3 floors, 2 of them underground. The only bit I'm not entirely happy with is the outside area, where r_speeds can climb to 700, but generally they stay below 400. I've tried to incorporate as many playstyles as possible: The cramped corridors of the lower level are ideal for the shotgun, the crossbow room can be used for sniping, but snipers can also be easily got at using the rpg. The main focus of this level is the "Death Tube" You must enter this to get the rpg, but people on the level above can activate a grate which stops you flying to the top. They can then shoot you through the holes, although if you're quick you can shoot them first. This probably won't make much sense until you actually play the level:) Thanks to: Valve for the great game, i.d. for starting it all, Planet Half-Life for keeping me up-to-date, Radium for his great site, and a big thanks to all the guys and gals at the Rust discussion board for answering my stupid questions. ======================================================================== Level info: Single player :Hmmm...don't expect too much excitement. Deathmatch :Yes, 2-8 people would be best. Any more and it would be too hectic. Construction: Base :From scratch. Editor :Worldcraft v2.0 Bugs :None that I know of. Build time :About a month and a half, on and off. Compile machine :P150 with 32megs of RAM (ouch..), Voodoo2. Compile time :About an hour. ======================================================================== Legal bit: You may distribute this map freely, but you may NOT use it for your own greedy gains. Don't even THINK about putting it on a commercial levels CD without my express permission. If you want to put it on a magazine, e-mail me and I'll consider it. If you do, or if you don't, please e-mail me and give me some feedback. If you're a professional mapper, please tell me what's wrong with it and how I could improve it; even though I'm not planning to do anymore mapping, I'm always willing to learn :)
